1. Is it safe to drink the water?
We provide bottled drinking water in the kitchen and upper bathroom and suggest that you use it to drink as
well as to brush your teeth .
2. Should we rent a car?
Yes, having a car is very useful to visit the many sights and restaurants in the area. The closest town, Tulum,
is about 6 miles away.
3. Are there restaurants nearby?
Yes, there are three, Blue Sky Hotel, Casa Cenote and Tankah Inn, within walking distance. The towns af
Tulum and Akumal (each less than 10 miles) have fun and interesting places to dine with excellent food.
4. What about groceries?
You can purchase groceries at the San Francisco supermarket 8 miles away in Tulum and many fruit markets in
town. You may also call or order online for home delivery at OmlyPlanet in Tulum or Riviera Maya Groceries in
Akumal
5. What is provided for free?
The sea kayaks, life vests, large beach towels, hammocks and beach pads are provided. A hair dryer,
shampoo, soap and conditioner and many kitchen condiments are also provided. NOTE: Both electricity and
plugs are the same as in the US.
6. What is your cancellation policy?
If a reservation is made within 60 days of arrival, payment in full is required upon reserving. If a reservation
is made earlier, a non-refundable 50% deposit is due at the time of reserving to confirm your reservation and
balance due date will be 60 days prior to arrival date. All holiday reservations require payment in full to
confirm. The holidays include: US Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years,and Easter holiday weeks. If you are
worried abut cancellations or interruptions, we suggest you consider Trip Insurance
Specifics
Cancellation prior to 60 days from arrival date will result in the forfeit of deposit. Cancellation less than 60
days prior to arrival date will result in the forfeit of 75% of the Total Rent. Cancellation less than 30 days
prior to arrival date will result in the forfeit of 100% of Total Rent. There are no refunds on cancelled
holiday reservations.
7. How do I get my suitcases up that spiral staircase?
For your larger baggage, we have a lift. It is conveniently located next to your car. Simply attach the bag and
hoist away - Aye matey 'tis easier this way.
8. Do all the shops take credit cards?
The local supermarket, "Super San Francisco" takes credit cards, but very few restaurants or shops take
credit cards in this area. We suggest you go to the bank in town with just about any ATM card to retrieve
pesos to spend. You can also bring travelers checks to exchange at the bank or any of the many "cambio"
change stands. For simplicity and the best rate, ATM is the way to go.
9. Should I bring my laptop?
Remember it is your vacation, but if you do, we provide a wireless broadband connection at Playa Belleza, or
you can visit one of the many Internet cafes in Tulum. They offer phones for calls to home.
10. Will my cell phone work?
Mobile cellphone coverage is pretty good in the entire Riviera Maya. Some US and Canadian cellphone
providers have agreements with the two Mexican mobile phone companies to provide service to their
customers. HOWEVER, in most cases you must contact your provider at home before leaving to have this
feature activated on your cellphone. You should also know that this service is expensive. Check with your
provider on rates and be aware that additional local charges may be added on.
11. What is the smoking policy?
We allow smoking anywhere outside the building.
12. What about hurricanes?
We suggest that you buy trip insurance if you are traveling this time of year, particularly the months of July
through October. But, in any case, you can be assured that if your trip is interrupted or cancelled due to a
hurricane affecting our area, we will credit your unused days towards reservation at a future time.
13. Is there an emergency phone number on site I can give my family?
Yes, Mauricio, our manager, has a cell phone. He speaks a little English and can get the message or call to you.
